Slogans / Demands for the Senior Citizen Rights and Entitlements

1. We demand a separate Ministry for Senior Citizens

2. Every Senior Citizen has the right to life, liberty, security, peace and dignity

3. Wellbeing of BPL inmates of Old Age Homes is a national responsibility

4. We protest against the Government’s Policy of Neglect and Indifference

5. We demand a National Commission for Senior Citizens

6. We demand 50% concession in train and bus fares across all states of India.

7. We demand immediate release of National Policy for Senior Citizens and its implementation

8. We demand minimum payment of Rs.2000 per month for all eligible senior citizens under Indira Gandhi National Old Age pension Scheme through Post Offices or Banks

9. We demand an affordable Health Insurance for all Older Persons

10. We demand setting up a Senior Citizens Welfare Fund

11. Laws to deal with Elder Abuse must be put in place urgently.

12. Senior Citizens are sizable Vote Bank which politicians cannot ignore

13. Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act (MWPSCA) must be operationalized fully in all States.

14. Amend Maintenance and welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act (MWPSCA) providing for stringent punishment for elder abuse

15. “No TDS” or Form 15H compliance for Senior Citizens as that is wasteful harassment

16. Recognize All India Senior Citizens Confederation as National Association for Older persons under National Policy for Older Person.

17. Employees’ Pension scheme 1995 retirees are also human beings. Treat them with justice

18. Build Old Age Homes as mandated in Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior citizens Act (MWPSCA).
